This is such a cool thing that you're doing! I found you on Twitter and was so impressed with how you were using tech to help campuses communicate - but *this* kind of direct social action by a company - well, frankly, it's just what companies should "do" - in my humble opinion. You have the technology, the platform and the engaged community - use it to help others! I'll help spread the message where I can.

Mazel Tov! (Congratulations) for this worthy philanthropic endeavor. I donated $18 which is the Hebrew equivalent for the Hebrew word "life". Clean water is what gives everyone life. D

Eric and OrgSync,
Thank you for showing both the awareness and initiative towards a global issue such as this. Often times in my career I am bewildered by the lack of understanding by students of their sense of place within the global community. I personally believe that the majority of our decisions have consequences on a global scale. With the advent of the internet, our world has shrunk significantly because of this new interconnectedness, causing issues such as starvation, water shortages, etc to be more accessible and known. Is it not then morally mandated to help those who can't help themselves due to being victims of circumstance?
Furthermore, I want my more affluent and privileged students to realize the importance of not overstating our own personal hardships when individuals all across the world are suffering in a far worse state. For example, my students should not be focusing on the fact that they can't afford a new computer that costs $2,400, and then being cognizant to the idea that most global citizens would gladly take half, if not far less of that amount, to buy food, water, or clothing. I'm not saying this to discount the needs that America has to address here at home; but, the mere notion that a company would take steps in addressing the needs of those in other countries who are less fortunate, is astounding to me. I applaud you and the rest of the OrgSync staff on your commitment to change the world.
I will make it a point to pass on the word of the good deeds that you and OrgSync are performing with this amazing gesture to my students, colleagues, other essential faculty and staff members in order to make this as great a success as possible.

Erica,

We are using charity:water's name for this event, so we are giving all funds to them. Rest assure they are very good with their money, which is why we chose them.

It is good to know that about h2oafrica though. Thank you.

Erica, we will be donating all of our proceeds to Austin Twestival, which is being hosted by the Austin Twitter Community. Michelle Greer is the coordinator of Austin Twestival and can provide you additional details about where Austin will be sending it's proceeds. Right now, the proceeds will be going straight to charity:water, but maybe not if we can continue getting organizations and companies to match the funds we raise.

Money would probably be better spent by giving to H2O Africa: http://www.h2oafrica.org/ Exact same cause (water to those in needy places) but their sponsors match 100% of your donation. So your match would also be matched by them. More money for this cause = good thing.
